LAHORE: Motorists say that forklift contractors are minting money from the people since the city district government of Lahore (CDGL) privitised fork lifting operations.
A Daily Time survey revealed that CDGL had assigned contractors to each of the 18 sectors the city was divided into. The fork lifters centres are set at Model Town, Nawan Kot, Akbari Mandi, Lower Mall, Township, Ichra, Old Anarkali, Shadman, Garhi Shahu, Gulberg, Nolakha and Qila Gujjar Singh.
Some people complain that forklift operators remove the No Parking signboards with cooperation of the traffic policemen. Then the unsuspecting commuters are fined when they park their vehicles at the no parking spots.
Rehan, a student, told Daily Times that he parked his car at the railway station entrance after taking permission from an on duty police constable.
